曙光：藝術、咖啡與有心人的聚落 Dawn: Art, Coffee, and a Gathering of Kindred Spirits
有時候，最動人的力量往往不在宏大的殿堂裡，而是在某個飄著咖啡香的街角。當一群創作者帶著各自的熱情聚在一起，彈著吉他、聊著天，把原本懸空的藝術變成實實在在能傳遞出去的溫度，那種快樂是極其純粹的。
在西環的 .jpg 咖啡館裡，這場以「曙光」為主題、為期一個月的慈善作品展，就是這樣在好友們的茶餘飯後中碰撞出來的。當初為了響應「世界難民日」，我與一群志同道合的畫家朋友共同發起了這個計劃，內容涵蓋了藝術畫、平面設計、圖片與手作等，期間更舉辦了幾場結合「咖啡 + 藝術」的音樂彈唱日。
這場活動從最初的邊談邊籌備，到最後順利落成，全憑各方好友的相助。作為合作人，特別感謝 .jpg 咖啡館的 Anthony Kwan、香港職業書畫家協會會長 Ricky Hon、彩雲之友會長 Helena，以及老友記 Ganni Ma、Seeing、Dominic Tang、Eric Fung、Anthony M. 與更多人的傾力支持，才讓這份心意得以圓滿。展覽售出作品的一半收益均撥捐予「聯合國難民署UNHCR」，用於支持全球難民的救援工作。對我們而言，這不僅是一次藝術的集體呈現，更是創作者與有心人聚在一起，用最日常、最平實的方式，為世界的某個角落傳遞溫暖的嘗試。
Inside the .jpg café in Western District, this month-long charity exhibition themed "Dawn" was sparked precisely in such casual moments among friends. In response to World Refugee Day, a group of fellow artist friends and I co-founded this project, which showcased a collection of paintings, graphic designs, photographs, and handicrafts, complemented by several "Coffee + Art" live music days.
The exhibition grew organically from casual conversations to a fully realized event, entirely supported by the collective efforts of friends. As co-organizers, special thanks go to Anthony Kwan from .jpg coffee shop, Ricky Hon (President of the HKPPA), Helena (President of Rainbow Arts Studio), as well as old friends Ganni Ma, Seeing, Dominic Tang, Eric Fung, Antony Mchugh, and many others, whose full support made this heartful effort complete. Half of the proceeds from the artwork sales were donated to the UNHCR to fund humanitarian efforts for refugees worldwide. For us, this was more than just a collective display of art; it was an earnest attempt by creators and kindred spirits to gather and bring warmth to a corner of the world in the most grounded, everyday way possible.
The grand extravaganza welcoming the year 2000 felt like a fateful calling across time. Drawing upon the close creative ties previously formed with the Foshan Folk Art Institute, we took on the monumental challenge of orchestrating the millennium dragon installations across both the Sha Tin and Happy Valley racecourses. In that defining moment, traditional heritage and ancient craftsmanship had to be completely deconstructed and precisely illuminated through modern structural engineering.
When the centerpiece—a soaring 280-meter silk lantern so immense its hollow core could easily house an automobile—was finally illuminated against the night sky, it captured a Guinness World Record. On that historic New Year's Eve, alongside a crowd of over ten thousand spectators and the era's biggest icons, we ushered in the new millennium. From the private totems drawn on canvas shoes to an epic dragon commanding the racecourse lawns, this project was more than a marriage of heritage craftsmanship and modern grand-scale design; it was a deeply personal milestone, soaring in tandem with the spirit of the century.
