迎接公元2000年的那場盛典，就像是一次跨越時空的宿命召喚。延續著過去合作項目中與佛山民間藝術社建立的默契，我們接下了在沙田與跑馬地兩大馬場中央，配置千禧巨龍裝置的跨國挑戰。那一刻，傳統的祥瑞意頭與古老工藝，都需要透過現代的發光結構去重新解構與精準呈現。
當那條全長280米、軀體巨大得內部足以容納一部汽車的「騰龍」彩燈在夜空中徹底點亮時，它不僅打破了健力士世界紀錄，更在世紀除夕夜與過萬名市民及粒粒巨星一同迎來了全新的千禧年。從少年時畫在白鞋上的圖騰，到橫亙在馬場草坪上吞吐光芒的史詩巨龍，這不僅僅是一次傳統工藝與現代調度的完美融合，更是我創作生涯裡，一場與時代並肩騰飛的浪漫印記。
Certain symbols seem destined to intertwine with one's life. During my student days, I was once fascinated by the dragon—captivated by its fluid motions and infinite, morphing forms. My peers would hand over their white canvas shoes or tennis wristbands for me to sketch these soaring dragons upon; at times, I would even stand before the mirror, painting dynamic dragons across my own chest and arms. Little did that youth know, these early sketches would one day expand into a monumental, undulating visual masterpiece upon the grand stage of a changing era.
The grand extravaganza welcoming the year 2000 felt like a fateful calling across time. Drawing upon the close creative ties previously formed with the Foshan Folk Art Institute, we took on the monumental challenge of orchestrating the millennium dragon installations across both the Sha Tin and Happy Valley racecourses. In that defining moment, traditional heritage and ancient craftsmanship had to be completely deconstructed and precisely illuminated through modern structural engineering.
When the centerpiece—a soaring 280-meter silk lantern so immense its hollow core could easily house an automobile—was finally illuminated against the night sky, it captured a Guinness World Record. On that historic New Year's Eve, alongside a crowd of over ten thousand spectators and the era's biggest icons, we ushered in the new millennium. From the private totems drawn on canvas shoes to an epic dragon commanding the racecourse lawns, this project was more than a marriage of heritage craftsmanship and modern grand-scale design; it was a deeply personal milestone, soaring in tandem with the spirit of the century.
